Preparation in depth
Every matter is briefed on the basis of the full record. Cases are not argued from summaries; they are argued from the record itself, read and indexed in the chambers, with authorities traced to source.
Public Record
Twenty-five years at the Bar of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad — with a focused original-side practice, a public-law brief across constitutional, criminal, and service jurisdictions, and institutional offices in the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh and the Union Government.
Sh. Prashant Singh Atal has been practising before the Hon'ble High Court of Judicature at Allahabad at its Lucknow Bench since 2001, and has been designated a Senior Advocate by that Court on 5 November 2025. He is a Member and Former Chairman of the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh, and serves as the State Convenor of the Legal Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh.
Alongside litigation, the chamber provides solicitor services, with a focused engagement in original-side matters — particularly in the domain of criminal law. The practice extends to drafting pleadings and furnishing comprehensive written legal opinions across Constitutional Law, Criminal Law (including proceedings under the U.P. Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act and the National Security Act), Service Law, Labour Law, Electricity and Energy Law, Excise and Customs, and a broad range of contractual and civil disputes.
He has filed and argued over ten thousand writ petitions before the Hon'ble High Court at its Lucknow Bench, and has appeared before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and various High Courts across the country. Over the course of the practice he has worked alongside, and assisted, several eminent Senior Advocates of the Supreme Court and the Allahabad High Court.
His institutional engagements include an eleven-year term as Senior Legal Counsel to the Union of India and a continuing role as Special Counsel to the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. He has served as Vice President and Joint Secretary of the Awadh Bar Association, and as Legal Expert to the Irrigation and Water Resource Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
At the Bar since 2001
A professional record is made of questions asked, hours spent, and positions taken. It is not made of superlatives. This website sets out that record — the chambers, the jurisdictions, the writings, the institutional offices held — and nothing more.

Professional approach
The chamber's work is organised around three habits: preparation in depth, respect for the Bench, and discretion with the client. Each is described below.
Every matter is briefed on the basis of the full record. Cases are not argued from summaries; they are argued from the record itself, read and indexed in the chambers, with authorities traced to source.
The advocate's first duty is to the Court. Submissions are made on what the law permits, not on what the advocate wishes it did. Difficult authorities are disclosed, not hidden.
What is said to the chamber stays in the chamber. No case is ever discussed in public. No result is claimed on behalf of a client who has not given written permission to do so.
